Yellowman Yellow Fever - The Early Years (TJACD201)

Yelowman was top man in the early eighties and popping this on will remind you of that fact.  He was prolific and hard and one of Dancehall’s original rulers. The laid back rhythm;s and distinctive voice top notch, such that he was at one point signed to one of the majors, not unfortunatley to huge success and tis album picks up where that left off.  Therefore we get the real thing and back to the dancehall.

The best tracks are the opener, The Ark, and the humourous Divorced (with Fathead), For Your Eyes Only (with Fathead).  Indeed the cuts with Fathead were all mighty fine.

Favourite though has to be the spiritual Prayer with the Mighty Diamonds or maybe Abortion.

The album concludes with collaborations with a newer emerging breed of Dancehall Weed Dem (with Beenie Man), the particularly good Here I Come (with Frankie Paul), World War (with George Nooks), Do Me (with Cecile) band and Chant With (Anthony B).
