Ali Ollie Woodson - Right here all along - XECD 33

The former Temptations singer's debut solo album. Let's deal with the cut that's getting the plays in the upfront soul arenas first, a grooving 'Drama in the Bedroom' which I am sure will reach cult status at the Fleetwood Weekender this year and rightly so.

'Turn out the stars' is a slow soulful ballad. If Lionel Ritchie had done this it would be a million seller but hear with soul.

'Will you still love me tomorrow' is the Goffin/King song but here it's Ollie's soulful rendition. Good but not my favourite. 'Deeper love' is dead slow and sensuous. 'Get next to you' brings up the pace to a mere mellow tempo, like this one. 'Love's not all' is also one of my favourites. 'Believe that' cuts a modern soul groove and could garner some plays. 'Love is slipping away' is a beautiful top quality ballad' 'Right here all along' leaves the best and title track to last.

This album is well delivered and produced, soulfully sang, adult orientated mellow soul with a realistic and harder edge than others in the genre.  Could do with a couple more uptempo cuts as I feel he excels on these.
