Mike I am doing just great, all is very well thank you! How about with you?

  1. I started Boosweet Records Online about 3 and a half years ago after spending 7 years at another indie label that I co-operated called Chereese Records. It was born out of the need to help get some very talented artists product into the global market place, as well as mine. Boosweet for those that don't know is an independent label/distributorship, that distributes musical product and merchandise worldwide via the internet and through traditional avenues as well. We also have licensing agreements with several different companies in foreign territories to be able to sell product and merchandise. In addition to selling musical product and merchandise, we also do marketing and promotion for independent as well as established artists, and companies that are music related looking to get more exposure for their merchandise and products. In the 3 years that the company has been in business, it has grown like wildfire, it has triple the growth in 3years than the 10 that I spent with the other company, because I have total control. This company is 100% independently financed which makes the success story even that much sweeter because we have done it on our own, with hard work and dedication, of which I am very proud. What I set out to accomplish with Boosweet, I already have, I have given artist with good quality music a home where they can sell and promote their music and products, and with a million and over visits per month, the artists get great exposure.
  2. Like a regular record label we do accept submissions, but also like a regular record label all submissions are screened for quality of content and production values. We have built a reputation for having good music to purchase. Once an artist has submitted their music my staff and I review not only their musical content, but their bio content to see what that artist has been doing for themselves. If they have been building a track record for themselves, then we tend to lean towards those artists because we feel that those artists understand that in order to get the best result for their product, both entities have to be pushing for success. Once we have agreed to place an artists music on our site, then we offer the artists several different promotional avenues that they can take to gain more exposure for themselves, and their musical works and merchandise.
  3. We will suggest to artists once they have signed on with us what we believe is a good course of action for their career, and we always have great opportunities that we can expose them to, that they can take advantage of. We like to show artists the way that they can help themselves too, not just what we can do for them, the education of an artist is very important to me, and if they are willing to learn, I am willing to help teach them.
  4. Right now we have so many good artists that we are working with, Cheryl Bliss, a very good alternative singer, Elaine Stepter who is very popular there in the U.K., so popular her product sold out over in there. All of the artists are good for their respective genres, remember we hand pick them!
  5. Stan Patterson was one of the first artist that we worked with, not only from the production side, but also promotion and distribution, he also sold lots of copies in the U.K.
  6. Monique is a very talented singer with an incredible vocal range who I actually have worked with for years, and helped develop. She has some really good songs on her project, including the old 5th Dimenson classic, "One Less Bell". Forte is also a very talented singer who I have had the pleasure of working with extensively, and she happens to be the wife of one of the band members of the super r&b group Lakeside.
  7. I guess probably because I am the most well known other than Atlantic Starr that we distribute, I actually have more CD sales than anyone else, my release "Kaleidescope" has spawned 5 internet hits and songs from the cd get played everyday still somewhere on radio, and in commercial outlets. We have several great new artist on the site, a funk r&b unit called "Roux", guitar instrumentalists "Miguel Mega from Brazil, and "TD Clark", r&b blues singer "Michael Bliss", just to mention a few.
  8. We have pretty much settled in our niche at Boosweet and know what works for us and what does not, so we will just continue to seek out great artists with great music, and help them get the exposure that they need to grow their careers. From the marketing and promotional side that we provide for companies, help those companies grow their respective brands, and get their internet presence up to speed if it is not already there.
  9. I have been in the music business for many years working with some of the legendary names in r&b and blues music, groups such as "The Dramatics", "Mary Wells", "D.J. Rogers", "Teena Marie", "Billy Paul", "Major Harris", "Luther Ingram", "Howard Hewitt", "Johnny Guitar Watson", "Charles "Merry Christmas Baby"Brown, "Carla and Rufus Thomas", just to mention a few. I have either produced or toured with these artists, and in a lot of cases both.
  10. Playing is how it all started for me and is what I love doing so yes that will always be very important to me and an active part of my career. I love the creative process of being in the studio and seeing songs come to life from an idea, but there is still no greater rush for me than being in front of people playing and feeding off of them, and them off of me, for a true artist that is what you work very hard to do.
  11. Working for Norman Whitfield needless to say was and still is a very great honor, because he is a legendary producer of all time in his field. He wrote many great hits for the Temptations, and many other during his tenure at Motown. I was very young at the time I was associated with his company, so just for him to take an interest in me to let me learn from him, to sit side by side with him at the studio console many, many nights and early, early mornings, is still as great thing for me. It is an experience that I have not, and never will forget, Norman had the great ability to recognize talent, develop it, and golden ears that could hear a hit record.
  12. Yes Chereese still exists, I do not actively work with that company anymore, but lately I have been speaking with the head of that company my old business partner, about doing some co-promotional things between our 2 companies.
  13. I am working on a million and 2 things right now, I writing for my next cd release, I am writing and producing songs for the upcoming cd release of Elaine Stepter which will come out on Boosweet Records Online. I am also involved in 3 compilation cd releases that will also be released next year. One of the compilations will feature not only myself, but Brazilian guitar sensation Miguel Mega, Morris O'Conner who plays with Stevie Wonder, and who is currently in Las Vegas working with the legendary Gladys Knight, also guitarist Kevin Chokan, who is the musical director for Diana Ross, and also holds down guitar duties for Jeffrey Osborne. So you can see why I am excited about that project, which will also be released by Boosweet Records Online.
  14. Occasionally I will leave town to do a show, but with so many projects and running the daily operations of Boosweet, I tend to book shows that are no more than a few hundred miles away at most at this point, that is so I can finish what I need to finish. Next year I will be doing more travelling to support some of the releases, and I will be going to Brazil to do clinics, and shows.
  15. A Boosweet tour is somethig that I have been thinking about for some time now, and would be a great thing, but I would have to clear my plate of some things that are going on right now first. All things are probable.
  16. The only thing that I would like to add is that I have a signature series model guitar that is going to be released soon, that I personally designed myself, and was honored by the Aslin Dane guitar company to build and manufacture for me. I think that is one of the highest honors that a person who plays an instrument can hopefully seek to achieve. Also I hope that your readers will come and visit Boosweet and checkout some of the great talent that we represent there.
