Shalamar - Nights to remember - The Ultimate Collection SANDD127

Double CD released on 15 July 2002 to coincide with a one off gig at London's Forum on 12 July - see Calendar on this site for details, this double album for Shalamar Fans is indeed the Ultimate. Also celebrating the 25th anniversary of Shalamar.

Containing all the hits, bringing them all together on one CD, with longer versions and alternative mixes and additional material on the second CD.

Needing no introductions we have Nights to remember, There it is, I can make you feel good, Take that to the bank, Second time around, Friends, Dead Giveaway, I owe you one, Disappearing Act, Make that move, Uptown Festival, Right in the socket, Over and over, Sweeter as the days go by, My girl loves me, Deadline USA, Dancing in the sheets, Amnesia. There are 18 tracks in all on disc one including all 17 of their British hits, 4 top 10's. It's pretty amazing to think what came out of something that although in vogue at the time is pretty dire and extremely dated now, Uptown Festival

The second CD contains a couple of nice sparse but modern remixes of A night to Remember and Take it to the bank. The Mix to remember though is pretty forgettable. Nice version of Ooh Baby baby. In fact some of the lesser known (in the UK) material on here - some US R&B hits are indeed very soulful indeed. For the lover in you is a track in point. Attention to my baby has a tempo that could see plays I feel on the UK Modern Soul scene.

A veritable dancefest this and thoroughly enjoyable once in a while.
