The Upsetters: Scratch The Upsetter Again (TJCCD209)

The instrumental cuts are prety typical upsetter material, and ok that some of them are, they are not really doing much for me. However there are some killer vocal cuts on here which makes it come alive. The first is a cover of a standard which ordinarily would not do much for me – but Dave Barkers Will you still love me tomorrow oozes with Soul. Similarly Alva Lewis on She is gone again with it’s sparse backing is Deep reggae if there ever was such a thing! Busty Brown’s tribute King of the Trombone is also a fine vocal performance.

Some of the bonus tracks and updates do not add anything much but are there for the completist.
