A colorful, joyous and uplifting performance by the Voices of Jubilation start this concert followed by Don Corey Washington performing Noel.

Ray Charles in this gospel environment, despite his age, is as unique and typical as ever. The tempo drops and the renditions are more in the Ray Charles jazzy/bluesier tradition. His voice may not be as strong as it once was, but the man can still carry it off a plenty. Great version of Oh Happy Day.

The piece in the middle of Ray's two sets by the Voices is wonderful, starting off slow and building, but always controlled, as the best gospel always does.

Ray's second set is more of the traditional Christmas songs and hymns but the gospel renditions give them a new dimension.

The harmonies and enthusiasm of the gospel choir are faultless. What I suggest you do is put this on on Christmas afternoon instead of the banalities that will otherwise be on your TV.

In an exciting move that marked music history, legendary superstar Ray Charles was joined by the world famous 120 member Voices of Jubilation Gospel Choir of Newark New Jersey for his first ever Christmas Music Special. They combined their talents in this unprecedented musical showcase not only to entertain but also to spread positive messages to a wide audience.

What makes this endeavour so special is that the twelve-time Grammy winner Charles has never performed traditional holiday music in a live concert setting. And, of course, Ray Charles brings his own, unique, jazz/rhythm and blues interpretation to these traditional holiday favourites.

The show includes such favourites as The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire), Little Drummer Boy, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, Silent Night, The First Noel, Hark The Herald Angels Sing, Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer and many more.
