Gary Taylor - Under the Nightlight - XECD 29

Starts of with the gorgeously cool title track - this album is Quiet Storm with a vengeance. Gary is really talented and it is great that this type of album hits the streets via outfits such as Expansion, and without the need for out and out commerciality, and as I understand it Gary is the type of guy that won't be compromised anyway. The songs are well written, well structured and well performed you can just sit back and mellow away. The pace at best is mellow and cool, and otherwise slow and sultry.

There's not really a bad track in evidence. But I particularly like Take Me through, About the real, How was I to know and the sensual Erotica. This is moody adult orientated Soul.

This in a way is a faultless album, cool, mellow, moody, soulful, classy, well produced, well written, well performed, sophisticated, adult and well packaged (better big up Rog! - but it is). But I sometimes wonder how many these sell. I hope sufficient for them to continue and to enable Gary to continue what he does best.
