Following the success of his 1997 direct to video multi platinum movie 'I'm about it' Master P returns with this new tale.

The wave of hip hop movies out there right now is starting to resemble in a small way the blaxploitation period of some 30 years ago. The movies tend to be formulaic in both musical content and also visual images. All the usual things are here (homies, drugs, bling bling and so on) but there is a bit of a twist to the storyline that adds interest. It would be so easy for such films to be pretty much non existent and live or die on the strength of the music included or the name of the people involved.

Ok we have Master P and cameos from the likes of Snoop Dogg. But this film is well produced and directed, good images and a kind of credible story. These films seem to go straight to video although I'm not sure about this one, but any lack of box office success does not make it a bad film or one that won't make money. Master P I would think is destined for a great career in films

The DVD also features some concert footage and videos.

MP Da Last Don, release date 8 April 2002, is the latest film from one of the most creative minds in rap music today. Master P is Nino Corleone, and he takes you into the darkest shadows of the Cuban mob. Nino never wanted the life of a gangster, but when his father Don Corleone is gunned down in the street he must answer the call for revenge. Now deceit, back room deals and crooked cops that threatens to destroy every thing Nino loves.
