Thanks
for doing this, start with a bit of background, tell me about yourself, where
you're from, where you are now, your age, your family.
Well
i'm 23 and i come from a family that had quite mixed cultures. My fathers
family are black Jamaican and my mothers family are Indian and
Chinese
Jamaican.
And tell me where the music has come
from, have you always been musical, and at what point did you think it might be
your career?
Music
is something thats always played a big part of my life and i can remember it
being this way from the age of about 2,3 years old.
Have
you always been writing stuff?
I've always written songs, stories,
poems etc.
Who
are your influences, both in songwriting and performance, and who out there
right now do you admire or aspire to?
My
influences include Jill Scott, E. Badu, Ledisi. As far aspiring to being to
anyone goes - there is no one. I'm an individual and what i'm
bringing
is individual and different.
Prior
to the Frofar deal what have you done, anything come out, do any live work and
stuff?
Prior
to Frofar had worked with a few different production teams and done a few live
shows. I gained some valuable experiences.
And
how did the Frofar thing come about?
An
acquaintance heard that they were looking for artists and mentioned me. It all
went from there.
You
wrote "I won't let U get 2 me". Tell me about this song - personal.
How did it get picked for the single. How did the hook up with Richie D'rell
come
about?
"I
won't let U get 2 me" is about being on a journey from one place to
another (in terms of goals, aims and ambitions) and people trying to hinder
you.
I think we can all identify with this. We chose this song for that reason. I
hooked up with Richie D'rell by a twist of fate.
What
other stuff have you put down. Can we see an album or come gigs?
I
am constantly putting new things down. My music moves with me. Watch this space.
What
do you think of the UK Scene right now, and particularly your competition. And
what extra do you have above them?
More can be done to move urban music
to the forefront. What makes me different from whats out there is that my music
is personal, its sincere and
people
from different niches can relate
to it. Also, I write my own material.
Do you see a move more towards more
soulful product at the moment?
yes
And what will you be doing over the
coming months are you gigging maybe. Do you have a band?
Yes.
I have a few events lined up and possibly a show in Philadelphia.
And
the big overall plan!!
I
just want to get my music established and make an impact towards the music
scene in general.
What
other things do you like to do?
I am studying for a degree.
Good
luck, thanks for your time anything else you'd like to say.
Thanks
for listening to me and please look out for my album, which will hopefuuly
follow on from my second single
