Ice Cube – The making of a Don – D9000

Wherever you look these days in the
film world all you seem to see is Cube, most of which I have to say I like very
much. He certainly seems to have
carved out a niche in his post (one assumes) music career. Thus he is a good target for a
documentary and the tag of Don I guess does fit to a degree.
This documentary covers predominantly
the early days, from the streets, to the initial collaborations, leading to NWA
and beyond into the Good Life.
Pretty much enjoyable and does help to
fill in the some of the knowledge gaps.
Some interesting detail but with this kind of project it is always
difficult to see both sides as it is only a perspective from a point of view.
The project is unauthorised so
unfortunately there’s no music or interviews with Cube himself, which I find is
always a shame.
Cube is marketable and this will
appeal to both the casual viewer and the completists.
