Chaka Demus & Pliers: Gal Wine: Dancehall Gems From Jamaica's Dynamic Duo (TJACD195)

John Taylor and Everton Bonner! Or beter known as Chaka Demus and Pliers. Well the best of this is well pretty good, the early material helped to hone a sound that was fresh and they made big, and when big it all kind of lost direction a bit in the realms of commerciality and the outside pressures that success breeds.

What I like about it is that whilst honed and aimed at the dancehall there is a good bit of harmony in there – eg the 2001 cut It Hot. The title track is the massive one of course, great tune, as is Dutty Character with the fancy Make Up Rhythm.

The 1997 Buny lee material material was particularly good – When I get your love being the best
