This is a collaboration between DJ Bronco and the Sound of Los Angeles Records. Bronco is a top funk DJ from France, known commonly as Uncle Funk. He began as a collector in the late 80's and in 1994 produced his first track on the Paris label Yellow Productions. Today he hosts Generations 88.2 in Paris. He also DJ's around Paris including L'Elsee Montmarte, l'Opus Cafe, Le Cithea and Le Globo.

Of course, Dick Griffey formed Solar in 1978 after Soul Train and built it into one of the top Black owned Corporations in America.

All the best of Solar's smooth, polished Soul with a disco beat is here and it all mixes together with consummate ease. It's just one of those lie back and take it in records, but hearing it all together just shows how good the sound was, whether it was the big hits or some lesser known tunes, the sound was there.

All I can see is that it is beautifully mixed, a good party groove, but these Cd's are not for the purist of course. Given that a lot of these cuts were extended 12" disco versions, some of them are really stripped right down here. Stuff like the Sylvers, Lakeside, Collage is nice to see amongst the more predictable hits. Even the most funky tracks like No parking are still pretty smooth. Favourites - Midas Touch, Whispers are always great regardless, but Can't do Without Love is tops.

The mix is seamless and not overpowering, the art of the DJ is to let the music speak and not be egotistical, Bronco succeeds in that respect. Get your platforms and flares out and party.
