Barry Biggs - -Sideshow - The best of Barry Biggs
Released 15 March 2004
The big hit Sideshow is probably and rightly the best of the bunch. If you like the vocal on that then you will like the rest. The vocal, akin to Russell Thompkins Junior of the Stylistics, a high falsetto. Much of the material is covers of US soul hits from the likes of Blue Magic, ChiLites, Temptations, Eddie Holman given the lazy commercial reggae feel.
Barry actually started many years earlier than when the hits came, back in 1969 or thereabouts and the earlier tracks are included such as Work all day.
There is a great version from 1970 of Leon Haywood's It's got to be mellow, typical Jamaican beat with wonderful US harmonies. Another favourite is Reflections of my life from the eighties.
