EVENTS
North Devon Soul - Exeter Inn - Barnstaple - 1 March 2002
It's been a while since I commented on this but this goes out on the first Friday of the month and goes from strength under the new 'management of John Murch, Vic and Paul O'Brien. I've been here as a DJ and a punter and always is it a most enjoyable night. The following is a comment by Paul O'Brien followed by my playlist.
Thanks to all who were able to make it on
Friday ! another excellent night !
DJs were Dave with a reggae/ska set that took all back to their
youth club days.....Kev Goldsworthy played a
popular mix of 60s/70s.....next up Phil merrell with an ideal
set....Brian Price with his farewell bid on the
decks......John/Vic with their solid double act...finally, Mike
Ashley with the highlight of the night.
A special thank you to Brian Price for his sterling support via
the North Devon Journal. We wish him every
success in Bristol although he has threatened to call in when he
can.
Nice to meet Eric Hall & his lady Liz...hope to see you both
again on April 5th at our Anniversery bash.

NORTH DEVON SOUL 2 November by Paul O'Brien
JUST A QUICK THANK YOU TO ALL WHO MADE IT
ANOTHER IDEAL NIGHT !
A special shout to those who travelled a fair way to be with us
including;
Mark & the Plymouth Crew
Martin from Liskeard
Mike & Domanique from Weston
Andy from Exmouth
Paul & Nicky from Exeter
Still a very busy night for a November when I understand the rest
of Barnstaple was DEAD.
Nice to meet Howie and his mate from Braunton. Howie was the
first to respond to our new email address when
published in the North Devon Journal (thank you Brian, nice to
see you and you lovely lady)
Please use the email for postings/enquiries/feedback as often as
you wish. If it justifies it, we could
even start our own North Devon Soul email group !
A quick word of thanks to Andy, John, Vic & Kevin (I can't
really thank myself) for laying down some
excellent tunes. A good variety played....any comments welcomed.
John & Vic have not finalised the DJ line up for Decemeber
yet, I will let you know as soon as I do
(although I have a sneaky feeling from seeing them deep
inconversation with John that Phil Merrell (ex
Twisted Wheel DJ) & Mike Ashley (Life & Soul) may well be
doing another double act in December).
Other does coming up include Cheltenham Saracens on the 9th
November with special guest Ginger Taylor and
then the following Friday, 16th November its, Life & Soul
Anniversary bash at Route 66 in Weston.
Finally, keep your eyes open for news of a NEW WEBSITE devoted to
the soul scene in the south west...details
will be made available as soon as its completed.
Thats all folks, for the moment, keep in touch
Paul
