Dennis Badbone Rollins & Co

@

It was a pleasure, if not an honour to welcome Dennis Badbones Rollins & Co to on the Sat 4th May 2002.

During his short but distinguished young career, he has performed with the likes of Courtney Pine 92’, Brand New Heavies 93’, Jazz Jamaica 95’, Damage 92’, Beverly Knight 99’ to name a few.

Amidst the Essential Festival@ Ashton Court and the FA Cup final in Cardiff………..the people from Bristol and it’s surrounding regions came out in droves. To listen to "one of the most entertaining and inviting new funk combos currently burning up the uk scene" (the jazz café Camden)

Dennis & band funked it up with a selection of songs from his cd, badbone, "The Funky Funk", "Pay back", "Where It’s At" and "Red Cent" a chilled out melody, followed by a drum lead trombone improvisation with his brother Erroll Rollins and, percussions lead by Lenny Lawrence which also included some under 16’s year old fans.

Interaction, was the one thing Dennis required from all, young or old, Black or White. After some raising call and response the audience was treated to some ad-lib scat vocals by an audience member to a trombone version of ‘Summertime & the living is Easy’ and ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’.

This brought the house down, credit x1000 where it ‘s due to Dennis Badbones Rollins & Co.
