An interesting documentary portraying the early
days of Alicia Keyes and how she catapulted to superstardom. Some interesting insights into her young
Manhattan background . The
commentary is fast paced an illustrated nicely with pictures but unfortunately
no music. The comments from the assembled
crew of ‘experts’ is interesting and helpful at best but pretty obscure and
mindless at worst. Some of the
comparisons are in my view are ‘surprising’ and not thought through. However in this soundbite world we live
in they don’t need to have depth or explanation.
Oh I wish there was some music aside from the
classical piano at a press reception.
The one could have seen the extraordinary talent rather than having to
know beforehand. Thus the package
can and will only appeal to the fan, and will not bring her to a wider
audience.
