I am writing this letter on behalf of Buster Forehand, the C.E.O. of the LITTLE BUSTER RECORD COMPANY. At an early age in his life Buster lost his sight due to Glaucoma. His blindness has not prevented him from living an extremely productive Life, in addition to consistently providing financial support for his Family. Our Company LITTLE BUSTER RECORDS (www.little-buster-records.com) and its Artists and the NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND (www.nfb.org), have formed a long term alliance and are going to present a series of "Benefit Concerts For The Blind", throughout the United States beginning in early 2003 and continuing for the entire year, also we are formatting plans to continue these Concerts in 2004 and 2005.

We are a Minority owned and operated Company, dedicated to the creation, production, and distribution of American R&B, BLUES, SOUL, and JAZZ Music that brings pride to the Minority Community. We would like to start a dialogue with you, concerning the possibility of our Company and its Artists endorsing your Organization, in correlation to your Organization taking a pro-active role in supporting our Artist's upcoming "USA Benefit For The Blind Concert Tour".

Our two Recording Artists, Buster (Little Buster) Forehand and Ayanna Hobson, and their respective Bands, and other National / International Artists (as special guests), will perform at these "Benefit Concerts". We have already gotten firm commitments from "Al Kooper" and "The Memphis Horns" to perform at several of our "Benefit Concerts". Our Company and its Artists are totally committed to this worthwhile cause, which will directly benefit the NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND including the World's first Research Institute operated entirely by blind individuals, that is being created to enhance the lives of blind people in the United States, and will begin operations in October 2003. The LITTLE BUSTER RECORD COMPANY and its Artists, have made these "Benefit Concerts" a priority over our personal Live Performances in Europe and the United States.

The "Benefit Concerts for the Blind" will be in large Venues (2000 +capacity). The basic demographics of our Audience indicates their ages range from 23 to 56+ years, their educational range is from High School, College, and advanced College Degrees, and their incomes are from $25,000 to $175,000+. After the cost to Produce and Promote these Concerts is covered, we should be able to generate between $15,000 to $20,000 per Concert to the NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND the #1 Organization in the U.S., dedicated to directly helping the Blind. In addition our Company LITTLE BUSTER RECORDS will donate 20% of the revenue received from our Artist's CD sales, Merchandise, and Posters at the Concert sites. The success of the "Benefit Concerts" will be enhanced by promotions from Radio, Television, Music and General Periodicals, including local Newspapers in the Cities of the Concert performances. In addition there is a strong possibility that PBS Television will make a documentary about our "Benefit for The Blind Concerts" and the cause that they represent. This is the format that we are going to use in 36 States encompassing 45 to 50 Cities that the Concerts will be performed in.

Examples on how we could increase your Organization's, exposure in connection with our "Benefit Concerts" to our Audience, our Fans, and Customers are as follows:

* Exhibit your Organization's Logo at our Concerts and other live performances.
* Our Artist's endorsement of your Organization during their Radio and TV performances and interviews.
* A listing on all of our "Benefit Concert' advertising ( Radio, TV, Newspapers)
* A listing on the Concert Program handed out to every ticket holder.
* A listing on our Company's and Artist's Websites, including our MP3 Music Websites.
* A listing on our E-mails to our Fans, Customers, and Jazz and Blues Societies throughout the World.

* Offering our Artist's CD's at a discounted price to your Associates and Customers.

In addition we have already contracted The TRS Music Promotion Company (www.radiopromo.com) to implement a 2 year promotional campaign, beginning in January 2003 that would be able to inform the Public of your Organization's pro-active Sponsorship of our "Benefit Concerts", and showcase our Artist's CD's to be played on over 800 Radio Stations in the United States.

As for our motivation and value gained to us, it is quite simple. By utilizing Music our Associate Buster Forehand has overcome his blindness, has Entertained and Educated millions of people all over the World, has created the opportunity to allow people to be employed, and has become the C.E.O. of his own Musical Enterprise. In addition to showing people that where there is a will there is a way, and that being blind does not prevent an individual from living a Life of fulfillment. So what you basically have is a situation where a person who unfortunately got Glaucoma at the age of 3, and lost his sight, taught himself how to play 6 Musical Instruments, and became a Singer/Songwriter, a W.C. Handy Award Nominee, and has developed a Worldwide Audience for his Talent and Music. Now 57 years later wants to use these skills and his Associates skills to enhance the lives of other blind individuals.

THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND:

Founded in 1940, the National Federation of the Blind (NFB)
is the nation's largest and most influential membership organization of blind (http://www.nfb.org/definition.htm) persons. With fifty-thousand members,
the NFB has affiliates (http://www.nfb.org/localorg.htm) in all fifty states plus Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, and over seven hundred local chapters. As a consumer and advocacy organization, the NFB is considered the leading force in the blindness field today.

The purpose of the National Federation of the Blind is two-fold—to help blind persons achieve self-confidence and self-respect and to act as a vehicle for collective self-expression by the blind. By providing public education about blindness, information and referral services, scholarships (http://www.nfb.org/Tech.htm), literature (http://www.nfb.org/literature.htm) and publications about blindness, aids and appliances (http://www.kifwebe.com/asp/intro.asp) and other adaptive equipment for the blind, advocacy services and protection of civil rights, development and evaluation of technology, (http://www.nfb.org/Tech.htm) and support for blind persons and their families, members of the NFB strive to educate the public that the blind are normal individuals who can compete on terms of equality.

Special services of the National Federation of the Blind include a Materials Center containing over eleven hundred pieces of literature about blindness and four hundred different aids and appliances used by the blind and the
International Braille (http://www.nfb.org/tech/ibtc.htm) and Technology Center for the Blind is the world's largest and most complete evaluation and demonstration center for all speech and Braille technology used by the blind
from around the world. NFB-NEWSLINEŽ (http://www.nfb.org/newsline1.htm) for the Blind, the world's first free talking newspaper service, offers the blind the complete text of leading national and local newspapers with the
use of only a touch-tone telephone. JoblineŽ (http://www.nfb.org/jobline/enter.htm) offers national employment listings and job openings through a telephone menu system to anyone free of charge.

Publications of the NFB include the Braille Monitor (http://www.nfb.org/bralmons.htm) , which provides a positive philosophy about blindness and discusses events and activities of the Federation and in the blindness field and Future Reflections (http://www.nfb.org/futref.htm), a publication of the National Organization of Parents of Blind Children, a Division of the NFB. Voice of the (http://www.nfb.org/voice.htm) Diabetic focuses on special interests and needs of diabetics and is a publication of the Diabetes Action Network, also a Division of the National Federation of
the Blind.

It is estimated that about 1.1 million people in the U.S. are blind. Each year 50,000 more will become blind. Studies show that only AIDS and Cancer are feared more than blindness. However, blindness need not be the tragedy which it is generally thought to be. In the NFB we say, "The real problem of blindness is not the loss of eyesight, but the misunderstanding and lack of information which exist."

BUSTER FOREHAND:

Buster was born in Hereford, North Carolina, at the age of 3 Buster developed Glaucoma, as a young Boy his Musical Career started as a Vocalist. By the time he completely lost his eyesight, Buster learned how to play 6 Instruments, including the Guitar which he consistently played, while attending the North Carolina School for the Blind.

As a Teenager Buster relocated to Long Island, New York, to live with his Sister. In 1959 Buster began his Professional Musical Career as a back-up Guitar Player in Alan Freed's 'ROCK AND ROLL SHOWS', the premier Showcase for many future World Class Entertainers, that was at Brooklyn's Paramount Theater. In addition Buster was performing on a regular basis in the Bars and Clubs on Long Island.

In 1964 Buster won a Talent Contest at the World famous 'APOLLO THEATER', and caught the attention of Jerry Blaine, who ran the Jubilee and Josie Record Company. Buster signed with Jubilee/Josie records, and recorded his Composition 'LOOKING FOR A HOME', which became a Radio Hit in the local markets on the East Coast. Throughout the 1960's Buster recorded for Jubilee/Jossie Records, his biggest Hit was in 1968. The name of the song was 'YOUNG BOY BLUES' which was written by Legendary Song Writer Doc Pomus. Doc Pomus said that "Buster's Overwhelming Version Of This Song Was The Best Rendition That He Ever Heard", far outstripping Ben E. King's cover of the Song. The last 45 Single that Buster recorded for Jubilee/Josie Records was 'CITY OF BLUES / CRY ME A RIVER'

Jubilee/Josie Records recorded Buster's first Album, compiled of previously released 45's and some additional original Compositions in 1970. The title of the Album was 'LOOKING FOR A HOME', but unfortunately due to the financial demise of Jubilee/Josie Records this album was never released, and was put in storage in the Company Vault.

In the 1970 Buster put his recording Career on hold and concentrated on Live Performances throughout New York. Buster paid his dues as an opening Act for B.B.KING, Muddy Waters, Bo Didley, James Brown, Solomon Blake, Etta James, Millie Jackson, Johhny 'Guitar' Watson, Albert King, Al Kooper, and many more.

For the next 25 years, Buster's incredible Live Performances overwhelmed his Audience. These Shows featuring his unbelievable Vocals and Guitar playing, resulted in his Legendary Entertainer status in New York that still remains today.

In 1996, Buster revived his Recording Career, with the release of his CD, 'RIGHT ON TIME' on Rounder/Bullseye Records. This CD compiled mostly of Buster's original Compositions received Worldwide acclaim, and resulted in a W.C.HANDY AWARD, Nomination, and received runner-up status for the LIVING BLUES MAGAZINE CRITICS AWARD. Buster's Recording Career moved forward in 2000, with the release of another CD, 'WORK YOUR SHOW' on Fedora Records. This CD also received rave reviews by the Music Critics throughout the World.

These accolades created the opportunity for Buster to perform on 'CBS This Morning', 'Late Night With Connan O'Brien', 'The David Letterman Show", 'The Chris Rock Show', and Dan Ackroyd's 'House Of Blues Radio Hour. Buster has also been featured in Periodicals such as "Juke Blues Magazine' 20th Century Guitar' 'New York Music Guide' 'Newsday' and 'Voices From The Shadows'. This increased expose created the opportunity for Buster to Perform in Concerts and Music Festivals in the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan.

Buster has always wanted to re-release his 45's, and in 1997, he learned that Sequel Records in England had obtained the right to release all of the Songs on a CD. The Songs and Album Cover design was from the Jubilee Album that was never released, this CD finally makes these Songs available to a Worldwide Audience.

In the year 2000, Buster along with his Life long Friend Steven Kleinberg, and Ayanna Hobson, formed the Little Buster Record Company. One of the many goals of this collaboration was to enable Buster to have complete control of his own Record Company, and his Music. In addition to have Ayanna and her newly formed Group 'AYANNA & THE SOULMATES' record Buster's original Compositions, in order to widened the Audience for Buster's Music.

THE NEWEST ARRIVAL TO THE OPAZ ROSTER

RAY HAYDEN’S ‘OPAZ RECORDS’ IMPRINT, ARE BEST REMEMBERED FOR THEIR WORK WITH MARTINE GIRAULT, THE WRITING & PRODUCTION OF THE CLASSIC TRACK ‘REVIVAL’, THE MONSTER JAM ‘FEEL THE MUSIC’ & THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ALBUM ‘BACK FROM THE RAGGEDY EDGE’.

HOLD YOUR BREATH THOUGH ……..BECAUSE ONCE AGAIN OPAZ HAVE DISCOVERED A RISING NEW STAR TO ADD TO THEIR EVER EXPANDING ROSTER OF TOP NOTCH ACTS.

TOUGH AUDITIONS IN 2001 LEFT JUST ONE CLEAR CONTENDER….

HER NAME IS SHINOBU

HAILING FROM CHIBA JUST OUTSIDE TOKYO, THIS YOUNG LADIES’ SULTRY AND HYPNOTIC VOICE INSTANTLY CAPTURED THEIR ATTENTION.

HER THREE DEMO SONGS HAVE ALREADY CREATED QUITE A STIR WITHIN THE INDUSTRY, AND ONCE COMPLETED THESE TRACKS WILL BE FULLY SHOWCASED ON HER FORTHCOMING SOLO DEBUT LP.

PART OF HER APPEAL WAS EXPERIENCE. THERE IS NO DOUBTING THAT PREVIOUS RECORDINGS ON ‘IRKSOME RECORDS’ WITH THE BAND FLAT STANLY, GAVE SHINOBU EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE IN THE STUDIO. SHE WILL BE MAKING BOTH JAPANESE AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE VERSIONS OF THE L.P., TO APPEAL TO THE WIDE RANGING INTERNATIONAL MARKET.

A MAJOR PART OF THE CONCEPT FOR SHINOBU WILL BE THROUGH HOUTE COUTURE DESIGNS FROM UP AND COMING FASHION DESIGNER COCO BROWN.

ESSENTIALLY POP BUT COUPLED WITH A VERY URBAN FEEL, HER STYLE OF SINGING IS SOMEWHAT REMINISCENT OF BJORK.

THIS ECLECTIC PROJECT WILL DRAW CONTRIBUTIONS FROM A SURPRISINGLY DIVERSE MIX OF BIG NAME PRODUCERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.

SOUTH WEST SOUL

Hardly a week goes by these days without there being an event in the South West. The South West has been a bit of a desert for Northern Soul over the years. It has been and still is big in Gloucester and Cheltenham but it never really has taken off in Bristol. That is despite the Yate all nighters in the mid 70's where the attendees were mainly those who travelled.

There have been pockets of attention in various areas like Cardiff, Plymouth, Bournemouth and Swindon and there are quite a few scooter clubs and scooter based events.

If we draw a line starting at say Swindon, go across to the West to include South Wales, to the South to encompass Bournemouth and include all points to the South West there are a growing number of events.

I have just returned from a night in Cardiff with the M4 Soul Club first anniversary. There are my events in Weston Super Mare - our fourth event happens in June. There are regular events in Gloucester, monthly at Crackers, periodically at the Fleece, and doubtless others. Pete French and Neil Self's Saracens in Cheltenham continue to pack.

In Devon there is the Watchet Soul Club, and the new North Devon Soul Club in Barnstable. Bournemouth continues with regular events and periodically there are happenings in Plymouth and Swindon.

I run a weekly event in Weston Super Mare that includes a good sprinkling of Northern, Motown and Modern and about to start one in Bristol.

There are plans that I know of for a new event in Swindon and possibly a summer session in Newquay.

Apologies if I've missed anyone - please let me know.

But all this is healthy and we need not feel like the poor relations anymore, and there is less need to travel for a soul night.

The sounds played are as good as any you will here anywhere else - Northern Modern R'n'B, and guest DJ's are venturing this way too.
