Interview

1.Q: First off the label - the next generation of R'n'B - now that's quite a thing to live up to, Great things must be expected of you.  How do you respond to that?

A: The Next Generation of R&B is Aaron K. Gray he speaks for himself. We here at Mekko Chivon Entertainment Group have spent many months trying to find something different from the norm. A guy that can speak two languages and sing high octives enough to pulsate any crowd young or old. Yes this is a great task to under take but we settle for nothing but the best in our company and our artists. We can guarantee that this young man will sneak up on the competition and win all praise due. We aim to take male soloists in a new direction. Our definition of R&B is Class, Respect, and Originality. Vocal capability and spirit.

2.Q:The new album - when was it released and how has it been thus far - what kind of feedback are you getting both at home and overseas?

A: Well the album is not released yet it will be in mid to late October. Thus all the responses as of know has been very very positive in the NYC area and in Atlanta,GA and Miami,FL along with the great review from you guys.

3.Q:Tell me a bit about the album, did you write the songs or produce or play any instruments?

A: Well I wrote a lot of tracks on the album alone with others. The album was produced by both Javon Michaels who is the Executive Producer (Mekko Chivon Entertainment Group) and Chris "Bed Rock" Burke Associate Head Producer of "Midi Sweet Productions" In NYC.

4.Q: The album is very versatile, ballads R'n'b bilingual, Latin soul r'n'b dance mixes. What songs do you particularly like?  What audiences are you aiming at?

A: I am aiming at all audience's young and old, which love good music. I'm trying to hit more target markets to just show why I AM THE NEXT GENERATION, or should I say What the Next level of music should sound like.

5.Q:There's also gospel  - I like Karen Clark Sheard - I understand you do to?

A: Yes I do, because she is very versatile and her vocal capability and she knows how to move your emotions with the sweet sound of her voice.

6.Q: How many live appearances do you do  - what have you done to promote the album.  What about the Apollo Theater.

A: Right now I've appeared at a lot of NYC/ Florida Clubs and A lot of events, venues and private functions. I am as well as my album very new BUT make no mistake about it when the ball starts rolling I don't' want to stop. I've waited my whole life for this chance and I want to live it to the fullest. As for the Apollo Theatre in the Heart of Harlem USA it was both a very good experience and bad. Good cause the ladies will always love you and the guys well? That's self-explanatory.

7.Q: What other things have you done in the past and what do you aspire to.  Is this your first release?  How did you hook up with Hitman?

A: I've done a lot of events Gospel wise. I just crossed over to R&B in the passed year. I aspire to work very hard help a lot of people that need it and make a dramatic entrance into the industry. I want to be like the month of MARCH just the opposite. Come in like a lamb and exit like a LION.

As far as Hit man records the Record Company (Mekko) hooked up with hitman as the distributor everything else is history. Hitman believed enough in Mekko's ability as a company and mine as an R&B/LATIN artist timing I guess.

8.Q: Tell me a bit about your background/roots.  You're from Miami right.  When did you move to NYC?

A: My background consists of Good parents a stable spiritual life I am an experienced dancer major, I attended Fine art dance schools in Florida and came to NYC in the summer of 1999 not intending to stay. I attended the Alvin Aliey American Dance Theatre in NYC. I met the President of Mekko Chivon Entertainment Group that summer and the rest is history.

 9.Q: You've had a strong musical education

A: Actually it's Gods gift I never had not one lesson.

10.Q: Anything in the can, or anything you're working on right now.

A: Actually now I really am trying to concentrate on my album, but I am collaborating on a special project for all the victims of the World Trade Center here in NYC. Where all monies will go to the victims. It's real dear to my heart due to the fact that I witnessed the attack from my company office. It's a horrible thing.

11.Q:Have you got any international deals and what are the prospects outside of the UK visit

A: I am hoping to have some in the works real soon. I would love to travel abroad to the UK I feel that you guys will love my music. The more people order it from your region the more than likely hood that the company will push me harder in the UK. I'm Very excited.

12.Q: Who are your influences both in the past and now - there's soul jazz hip-hop and Latin influences.

A: I rather you determine that when you hear and see me live. Sorry

13.Q: Any more comments you would like to make?

A: It's been a pleasure talking to you. Thanks for the opportunity and chance in letting me and my music be heard. Please buy the album and support me this is my life long dream. And know that this is just the beginning.

Good luck and thanks for your time.

Thank you Aaron K. Gray
